Fake job racket busted in Srinagar
Srinagar: Srinagar police on Tuesday claimed to have busted a fake job racket by arresting three of its members who were duping people on the name of providing government jobs against heavy cash payments siphoning crores of rupees from them.
A spokesman of police said that fake appointment letters with Government Departmental Logo’s, service books with fake seal and signature of Government Officials, relieving and transfer orders were also seized.
“On 15th of December 2017, Police Station Ram Munshi Bagh received a complaint from one Abdul Rashid Mir resident of Nihalpora Pattan that he along with other 17 persons have been duped by three persons identifying them as Mushtaq Ahmad Ganiae of Kulgam, Fayaz Ahmad Dar @Aijaz of Pattan Baramulla and Sham Lal @Manhas of Jammu. He further claimed that about 57 lac rupees have been given by them to these three persons on the promise of providing government jobs. Appointment letters were provided in different Government Offices by these three persons, which later proved fake”, he said.
He added that after receiving the complaint, Police Station Ram Munshi Bagh registered a case FIR 124/2017 under section 420, 468, 471 RPC and investigation was started.
During the course of investigation, a special investigating team (SIT) was formed. The team arrested all the three accused within three days from Jammu, he added.
“During further investigation, it was learnt that more persons from different parts of valley are involved in the scam, who have duped dozens of other unemployed youth. Accordingly, 03 more persons identified as Bilal Ahmad Dar resident of Kralkhud, Arshad Ahmad of Sonwar, Abdul Jabbar Hajam of Kupwara are linked with the scam and are being probed into. These three person were working as motivators who would entice gullible unemployed youth for governments jobs against huge sum of rupees. After receiving money, they used to arrange their meeting with Mushtaq, Fayaz and Shamlal who would pose themselves as Senior official working in secretariat. The candidates after paying money would receive appointment letters of different departments like Forest, Health, J&K Bank and Agriculture dept” he further added.
Many lower rung government and Bank officials are also believed to be involved in the scam and so far police have called up two officials for questioning.
Moreover, Police is looking for four more persons who are believed to be the master minds in the scam and are evading arrest. Srinagar police has also raided a documentation centre in HMT area of the Srinagar city where fake appointment letters, I-Cards etc were being printed. The computer centre owner was arrested and all the material used for printing has been seized.
The investigation of the case is still going on and more arrests are expected.
