Ahead of JRL’s protest, Mirwaiz placed under house arrest

Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman has been kept under house detention ahead of the Joint Resistance Leadership’s (JRL) call for valley wide strike and protests against the killing of three civilians.

Hurriyat (M) spokesman told KNS over phone that Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has been kept under house arrest and large contingent of Police and forces has been deployed outside his Nigeen residence here.

The JRL comprising of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and Muhammad Yasin Malik on had called for complete shutdown on Wednesday to protest against the killing of three civilians in firing by government forces.

In a statement issued to KNS, the JRL said that the Kashmir has been turned into a killing field where the lives of men, women and even children are not safe.
