Forces lay siege to Shopian Village

Shopian: Government forces on Monday started a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in Wanpora Batmuran Village of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.

Official sources said that 44 Rashtriya Rifles, 14th battalion Central reserve Police and Special Operation Group (SOG) Shopian launched a joint search operation  after receiving inputs about the presence of militants in the area.

Local sources said that large number of forces have been deployed in the area and door to door search operation was  going on when the last reports came in.

Earlier massive search operation was started in about 8 villages of Shopian district which however ended peacefully.
