Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Friday said that the ban on peaceful JRL rally (Jalsa) in Islamabad has once again proved that India and the local government have no guts to compete with resistance camp politically.

“Curfew, restrictions, spree of arrests and other oppressive measures are example of Kashmir being a police state,” JKLF Zonal president, Noor Muhammad Kalwal said in a statement issued here.

Condemning the unleashing of a ‘reign of terror’ across the whole valley by Indian forces and police, JKLF leader said that to ban a peaceful political program whole valley especially Islamabad had been turned into a battle ground where Indian forces and police used every tactic and excessive force to stop JRL public rally.

The statement added that the JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik along with other JKLF leaders Mushtaq Ajmal, Zahoor Ahmad Butt, Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri and Ghulam Muhammad Dar and others are languishing in Srinagar central jail from last 6 days while as police in nocturnal raids last night apprehended JKLF district president Ganderbal Bashir Ahmad Rather (Boya), District president Kulgam Abdul Sattar, Mushtaq Ahmad Mir, Fayaz Ahmad Mir, Rafiq Ahmad and Umar Ahmad Pala from their residences.

“Police today also arrested Meraj ud din Paray, Mudasir Ahmad and others who had managed to reach Islamabad from Jamia Masjid Islamabad. Police also placed JKLF vice chairman Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi under house arrest and had put a ban on the activities of the ailing JKLF zonal president Noor Muhammad Kalwal,” the statement said.

While condemning the ‘undemocratic crackdown’ on whole resistance camp, arrests, nocturnal raids, curfew and restrictions and use of brutal police force to stop today’s JRL public rally in Islamabad, Kalwal said that the way police barred and arrested Mirwaiz Doctor Muhammad Umer Farooq, placed heavy barricades and restrictions in and around ailing leader Syed Ali shah Geelani’s residence at Hyderpora and incarcerated Malik along with others clearly shows that Kashmir is actually governed by gun and not by politics and the democracy.

He said that “banning a peaceful political program by military means has once again exposed the myth of so-called Indian democracy in Jammu Kashmir and this actually shows that India and its Kashmiri abettors have no guts to compete with the resistance leadership on political front and also that India is keeping Jammu Kashmir under its occupation by military and police force only.”

JKLF leader said that forcing silence of a graveyard by using military might and designating it as peace can only be termed as foolishness.

“A fascist government in power, inspired by Joseph Gobbles’ malicious propaganda techniques is trying to paint the brutal pacification of Kashmir as peace and return of normalcy but today its false propaganda stands exposed before the international community,” he said.

Condemning the police assault on people’s protest at Pampore today in which many people were injured by police cane charge and many youth including Faizan Ahmad and Ubaid Ahmad were arrested by police, JKLF leader said that the rulers and their police who have let loose a reign of terror on people should remember that according to the law of retribution they will have to face justice and be held accountable for their crimes against humanity.
