Asiea inspects under-construction DH building

Ganderbal: Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Asiea Naqash conducted tour of Ganderbal district and inspected 200- bedded under construction District Hospital Building here on Thursday.

During the tour, it was given out that the District Hospital building is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 52.56 crore under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) on which Rs 32.9 crore stands expended so far.

The Minister also visited Government District Hospital Ganderbal and took stock of the facilities being provided to the patients there. She inspected various sections of the hospital included X-Ray, Theater Block and emergency and in-patient wards. She interacted with the patients and attendants and enquired about the medicare facilities available in the hospital.

Later, Minister convened a meeting to review the functioning of Health Departments and Social Welfare Departments of Ganderbal and Srinagar Districts, at the Mini Secretariat, DC Office Complex Ganderbal.

Director Family Welfare, Director Health Services, Director NHM, Director Social Welfare and other concerned officers were present in the meeting

During the meeting, threadbare discussions were held regarding various measures being taken to provide best possible medical care to the people of the Districts. She said that providing modern healthcare facilities to the people of the State is the top priority of the Government.

The Minister was informed about the status of stock of medicines, equipment, etc.  She also sought details regarding the provision of free and paid services to patients including medicines, investigations and procedures.

Underscoring the need for providing better healthcare facilities to patients, the Minister directed the, Chief Medical Officers, Medical Superintendents and Block Medical Officers of District Ganderbal to ensure the availability of doctors and paramedical staff at their respective headquarters.

The Minister said various health care institutions that are deficient of medical staff and paramedical staff would be addressed at the earliest. In this regard, Minister directed the concerned CMO’s to expedite the process of filling up of vacancies.

The Minister, while referring to healthcare as an essential service asked the concerned officers to put in their best and help improve service effectiveness

During the meeting, Asiea also took review of various schemes being implemented by the Social Welfare department. She urged the officers to organize awareness camps so that the masses are made aware of the various central and state sponsored welfare schemes. She asked the officers to be proactive in implementing AASRA scheme and work for the betterment of weaker sections of the society.
