Overnight rains bring relief to people in J&K
Srinagar: People across Jammu and Kashmir today got rid from intense cold as overnight rains not only broke more than two month long dry spell but also improved minimum temperatures all over the state, following overnight rains.
The rains in Kashmir and Jammu regions broke the dry cold spell prevailing in the state since October, bringing smile to the faces of farmers who were anxiously praying for rains.
Minimum temperatures throughout the state improved today as Srinagar and Jammu recorded 3.1 and 11.6 as the night’s lowest temperatures, respectively.
The twin hill resorts of Pahalgam in south and Gulmarg in north Kashmir recorded minimum temperature of 1.5 and minus 2.4 , respectively.
Leh recorded a minus 3.7 and Kargil 0.1 – which was far better than minus 13 and minus 12 recorded in the two towns of cold desert of ladakh a few days ago.
The temple town of Katra, recorded 11 degrees Celsius, Batote 5.3, Bannihal 5.2, Bhaderwah 7.4 and Udhampur 11.9, which was in contrast to the temperatures recorded a few days ago in the towns.
Weathermen forecast widespread rains in the plains and moderate to heavy snowfall in the higher reaches on December 12 and 13, with some places expected to get both rain and snow. (Kashmir Wire)
