Chief Secretary visits IIT Jammu

Jammu: Chief Secretary, B.B Vyas today visited the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Jammu campus and inspected the progress of ongoing construction works at Jagti in Nagrota.

Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Dr Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, Executive Engineer PWD (R&B), Additional Deputy Commissioner, ACR Jammu, OSD, IIT Jammu Commodore, SEs besides senior officers from police and civil administration were present on the occasion.

During his visit, the Chief Secretary was informed that the construction work on various sections of the campus is in full swing and would be completed at the earliest. It was further informed that at present, 200 students are studying in IIT, Jammu and the institute offers four streams including Electrical, Mechanical, Civil and Computer Science.

The Chief Secretary also inspected the works on Academic block, boys and girls hostel and other wings of the campus.

Reviewing the progress of works, he directed the concerned departments to work with utmost zeal and dedication to ensure timely completion of the project.

While inspecting the construction work of 8.5 km boundary wall of the campus, B.B Vyas directed the executing agency to expedite the work and complete the same by ending February, 2018.

The Chief Secretary also visited the site for establishment of Indian Institute of Management in Nagrota and directed Deputy Commissioner, Jammu to expedite the demarcation of the land to start the work at the earliest.
