JK to get three more Airports: Union Minister

Srinagar: Union Minister of state for civil aviation Jayant Sinha on Thursday said that  Jammu and Kashmir will soon get three more airports.

Speaking during a Summit organized by Foundation for Resource Development and Education in SKICC Srinagar, Jayant Sinha said that India will soon have around 150 to 200 airports and J&K may get three more airports soon.

The Union Aviation minister said that the airline industry is growing in India and the total turnover of Airlines is Rs 1.8lakh crore which is equal to turnover of railways and telecom sector put together.

The minister said that airline companies have already placed order for 935 more planes and soon 2000 planes will be flying in Indian airspace.

“Srinagar airport will have direct flights to Kaula Lampur and Dubai within six months and night landing facility at Srinagar airport will soon be available,” he said.

The summit was aimed to explore tourism aviation and entrepreneurship in the Valley.

Sinha was the chief Guest while as finance minister Dr Haseeb Drabu was be guest of honor on the occasion.

Pertinently, the summit saw participation of prominent businessmen and youth some of whom were felicitated during the function.
