Clashes in Pulwama, Anantnag after Friday prayers

Pulwama: Clashes erupted between government forces and protesters after Friday prayers in South Kashmir’s Pulwama and Anantnag district.

Protests were held at both places after Friday prayers against the US decision recognizing disputed Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. The protesters were carrying placards and banners seeking revocation of US decision and intervention of the international community.

According to Eyewitnesses, in Anantnag the protesters hurled stones on the troopers deployed in the area at Achabal Adda. However, the troopers chased away the protesters and shopkeepers also downed their shutters. The situation soon became normal in the area.

In main town Pulwama protesters hurled stones on government forces who retaliated with tear gas shelling resulting in clashes. As per sources clashes were going on in Murran chowk Pulwama.
