Three notorious drug peddlers arrested

Kupwara: Police on Wednesday claimed to have achieved another big success by arresting there notorious drug peddlers from different locations of the district and recovered four kgs of Charas from their possession.

The arrested drug peddlers were identified as Shabir Ahmad Mir, son of Mohmad Sadiq Mir, resident of Dardpora Kralpora, Waqar Ahmad Zargar, son of Abdul Majeed Zargar, resident of Tikker, Abdul Rashid Mir, son of  Abdul Jabbar Mir, resident of  Tungar Mohalla Khumriyal, from their possession four Kgs Charas has been recovered.

“Vehicle No DL3 CAT 2560 used by the peddlers has also been seized,” officials said.

They said that the cases under NDPS Act have been registered and investigation is in progress, more arrests are expected.

During the current year, the Special team has so far arrested 48 notorious drug peddlers/narcotic smugglers and recovered 28 Kgs of Charas, two Kgs of Heroine, 4.5 Kgs of Brown Sugar, large quantity of codeine, capsules proxovan/banned drugs from their possession.

One cross LoC narcotic smuggling module has also been busted by arresting four notorious cross LoC narcotic smugglers from Karnah area and recovered huge quantity of heroine and brown sugar.

People of Kupwara have eulogized the role of Police for launching effective campaign against drug peddlers.

Meanwhile, district Police Kupwara has appealed local residents to come forward and help the police to eradicate this menace from the society.

They also appealed the parents of addicted youth to come forward without any social stigma and avail the free facilities.
