Madni re-nominated as PDP Vice-President

Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President, Mehbooba Mufti has re-nominated Mohammad Sartaj Madni as party’s vice president. A party spokesman disclosed this in a statement issued here.

Though having lost the 2014 assembly elections, Mohammad Sartaj Madni, was again chosen for the post by the party president.

A Law graduate from Aligarh Muslim University, Madni has been a founding member of the party along with Mufti Muhammad Sayeed, Muzaffar Hussain Beigh and Mehbooba Mufti. Madni has been looking after the party affairs since 2014.

“People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president Ms @MehboobaMufti has nominated Mohammad Sartaj Madni as party’s vice president,” the official twitter handle of the party said.

Earlier, on December 3, Mehbooba Mufti was elected president of the party for the sixth time in a row since 2003.

Over 300 functionaries including the parliament members of the party, MLA’s, MLC’s, Zonal and district presidents unanimously decided to re-elect Mehbooba as the party president in the elections held here.

Notably, Madni is the maternal uncle of the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and is considered close to her.
