JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir State Government, Monday, made it clear that no communication has, of late, gone to the Assembly Secretariat from the office of the Finance Minister regarding taking up questions pertaining to J&K Bank business in the House.

Responding to a news report published in today’s edition of Daily Excelsior captioned “Drabu stirs row, wants J&K Bank out of the purview of discussions”, a Finance Department spokesman said that the communication referred to in the news report dates back to March 2015 and it was at that point in time only a reiteration of the stated position of the successive state government’s regarding questions of the Legislators pertaining to the business of the J&K Bank. He said it was widely reported and discussed in the media at that point in time.

The spokesman said the newspaper has now dug-up an old and routine communication and tried to play up and sensationalize the same in today’s edition as a lead story, to create an impression as if the Finance Minister has shot off a fresh letter to the Speaker, Legislative Assembly regarding the issue of discussion on JK Bank business in the House.

“The news report is not only superannuated, but also grossly overstated and completely misleading,” the spokesman said and added that by inventing, twisting and fabricating the facts, the newspaper has only put its own hard-earned credibility at the stake.
