4 gamblers held in Kupwara: Police

Kupwara: Four gamblers were nabbed in Kupwara and stake money of Rs.2500 were recovered from them last evening, police said on Monday.

Police identified the accused as Farooq Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Jabar Bhat, Abdul Rashid Nadaf son of Abdul Khaliq Nadaf, Ghulam  Rasool Rather son of Habibulla Rather, all residents of Lalpora and Zahoor Ahmad Mir son of Ghulam Ahmad Mir, resident of Tekipora.

“Following an input, police party from police station Lapora raided a gambling site in Rangwar village – adjoining Lalpora and arrested the gamblers,” Jan Muzzafar, SHO Lalpora told Kashmir Wire.

“A stake money of Rs 2,500 and gambling cards were recovered from the gambling site,” he added.

A case FIR number 96/2017 under section 13 Gambling Act has been registered and investigations taken up. (Kashmir Wire)
