Militants hurl grenade on police station

Srinagar: Suspected militants on Saturday evening hurled a grenade towards police station Baramulla in north Kashmir.

A police official said that militants at around 6:50 pm, militants attacked the police station with a grenade. However, the device missed the intended target and exploded on road side with a big bang.

Following the grenade attack, a cop who was performing his duty as Sentry on police station’s gate, opened few shots in air. However, no one was reported injured, the official said.

Soon after the incident, government forces launched searches in the area to nab the attackers. Meanwhile, the explosion and the firing incident created panic in the area and people were seen rushing towards safer locations.
