SRINAGAR: Around 5000 students from Kashmir division today appeared in the screening test for CM’s Super-50 coaching.

The screening test was conducted by the Directorate of School Education Kashmir at various centres in Kashmir valley, Leh and Kargil.

“On the basis of their performance in today’s screening test 1400 students would be selected to undergo free coaching for various competitive examinations including NEET, JEE, AIIMS, AMU, CAT,” said Dr G N Itoo, Director School Education Kashmir.

Director Education, who personally visited various centres today, said it was heartening to note that some students from Jammu division also sat for the screening test to undergo free coaching under CM’s Super-50 initiative in Kashmir.

The Director Education said the results of the screening test would be declared within two days and the coaching classes would formally start from 11 December 2017.

The Chief Minister’s Super 50 programme was launched by the then Chief Minister late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed in 2015. That year, 23 students, who studied at super 50 coaching institutes, qualified the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE).

This is the first such initiative taken by the government to train students for national-level exams who otherwise have to pay hefty amounts at private institutions for the coaching of competitive exams.
