Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) celebrated with religious zeal

Srinagar: Emotional scenes, processions and special congregational prayers Friday marked the Eid-e-Milad celebrations, the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) across the Valley with thousands of devotees thronging the Hazratbal shrine to have a glimpse of holy relic.

Reports said that thousands of people converged at the Kashmir’s revered shrine of Hazratbal that houses the holy relic of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) on the eve of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW). Emotional scenes, cries, shrieks and hand folded prayers marked the day as the head priest displayed the relic to the people at the Hazratbal shrine.

Notably, the Hazratbal shrine situated on the embankments of world famous Dal Lake houses the holy relic of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

Braving the bone chilling cold, hundreds of devotees also observed the night long prayers in the shrine. Witnesses said that the devotees from different parts of the Valley started thronging the shrine after Zuhar (afternoon prayers) to participate in the night long prayers at Hazratbal shrine.

They also offered the Friday congregational prayers at the shrine.

Emotional scenes were witnessed at the shrine when thousands of devotees who joined the Friday congregational prayers had a glimpse of holy relic following the culmination of mandatory Friday prayers.

The devotees were seen raising their hands and were seeking forgiveness from Almighty Allah.

The devotees had a glimpse of holy relic after every prayer today.

Various religious, social, business and political organizations had erected banners on roads and shops greeting people on the occasion while local traders in Hazratbal market had decorated the markets and announced discount on various items.

Meanwhile, the administration had made special arrangements for the devotees. The devotees also hailed the traffic arrangement.

“The additional number of vehicles were pressed to ferry the devotees while a special route plan was issued for smooth vehicular movement today,” an official informed ‘Kashmir Vision’.

Divisional administration had made arrangements of security and other necessary facilities for the devotees.

However, the devotees criticized the administration for ‘failing to ensure satisfactory arrangements for them.’

They said that the arrangements put in place by the administration today were inadequate. 

The special congregational prayers were also organized at Jenab Sahab Soura, Asar-e-Sharif Shahri Kalashpora, Lal Bazar, Khanqah-e-Maula, Ziarat Hazrat Dastgeer Sahab (RA), Syed Yaqoob Sahab (RA) Sonwar, Khawaja Naqshband Sahab (RA) and Ziarat Makhdoom Sahib (RA).

Special prayers were also held at Masjids and shrines in Islamabad mainly at Jamia Masjid Reshi Sahab, Khiram Sirhama, Kaba Marg, Dooru, Seer Hamdan anf Pinjora Shopian.

Various religious and social organizations organized Seerat programmes and Milad processions today.

The Milad processions were also carried out at many places where speakers highlighted various aspects of the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

The biggest Milad procession was carried out by Karawan-e-Islami from its head office at Shaheed Gunj in which thousands of people participated.

The procession was carried out by Karwan-e-Islami president, Ghulam Rasool Hami. The Milad processions were carried out at many places where speakers highlighted various aspects of the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

The second biggest procession was carried out by Shia Muslims led by President Anjuman-e-Sharie Shian and senior Hurriyat leader Aga Syed Hassan Almosvi Alsafvi from Mir Shamsuddin Iraqi (RA) shrine, which culminated at Imambara Gulshanbagh Botakadal Lal Bazar here.

The Milad processions were also taken out from Habba Kadal, Bemina, Nowgam, Dalgate, Chanapora, Soibug, Bijbehara town, Kupwara, Sopore and other parts of the Valley.

The reports of Milda procession were also received from other districts of the Valley.

Similar reports were also received from Jammu region and Kargil.

Governor NN Vohra, greeted the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the auspicious occasion of Eid-i-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) and expressed sincere hope that this auspicious occasion would be the harbinger of harmony, peace, progress and prosperity in the State.

Chief Minster

Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has greeted the people of the State on the auspicious occasion of Eid-i-Milad, the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

In her message of felicitation, Mehbooba Mufti hoped and prayed that this auspicious occasion would be the harbinger of harmony, peace, progress and prosperity in the State. “It’s an occasion to pray to Almighty Allah and seek His forgiveness and blessings for the entire mankind”, she said.

The Chief Minister said Islam teaches us the values of brotherhood, simplicity, compassion and morality, all of which need to be vigorously inculcated in today’s trouble torn world.

She has prayed for the well-being and happiness of the people of the State.

Others

The Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh, National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Working President Omar Abdullah, Jammu and Kashmir Prtadesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) chief, Ghulam Ahmad Mir and others have also extended his warm greetings to Muslim Umma on the eve of Prophet Muhammad’s (SAW).
