Three militants killed in Pakherpora encounter

Budgam:  Three militants were killed and three civilians were injured in an ongoing encounter in Futlipora, Pakherpora area of Budgam. However, the identity of the militants could not be ascertained.

Earlier, acting on specific information SOG Budgam and 10 Garhwal of army cordoned off Futlipora, Pakharpora area of Budgam district. As such the joint team of forces intensified searches towards suspected spot militants hiding in the area fired upon Government forces triggering an encounter.

Three civilians including a teenager were injured during clashes near the encounter site.

According to reports soon after the news about the encounter spread, youth hit the roads and started protesting.

The protesting youth attacked an army convoy heading towards Futlipora where a gunfight is underway, with stones which were retaliated by army through aerial firing.

During the clashes, 15-year-old Sinar Ahmad Mir sustained a bullet injury in his face.

He was rushed to Community Health Centre Pakharpora from where he was referred to Srinagar for specialized treatment.

Two more youth were injured due to pellet shotguns near the site of the gunfight.

 “Two teenagers sustained pellet injuries in the clashes. They were being treated at CHC Pakherpora for treatment.

Both the injured are residents of Karpora Check village of Pakherpora.

Meanwhile, mobile internet services have been snapped in parts of central Kashmir’s Budgam following the gunfight.

An official said that the service was snapped “as a precautionary measure” to prevent any protests.
