Para trooper injured during ongoing Sopore gunfight: DIG North

SOPORE: One Para trooper has been injured in the ongoing encounter at Sagipora Forests Sopore in North Kashmir, a senior police official said.

DIG North B. K Virdi told that the contact was established between militants and 9 Para at Zaloora top first however,  after it was established in Sagipora forests later where firing is still continuing.

DIG further told that one para trooper has been injured in the ensuing gun fight.

The gunfight had started earlier after a joint team of army’s 22 RR and SOG launched a cordon and search operation at Sagipora forest following specific inputs about the presence of some militants in the area.

As such the joint team of forces intensified the combing operation to trace the hiding militants and fired several warning shots. The fire was retaliated by the militants triggering of a gunfight. When reports last came the exchange of heavy gun fire was going on.
