Srinagar: Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) on Thursday staged a sit-in in Nowhatta area of Downtown Srinagar against attacks on Kashmiri prisoners in jails outside the state.

Scores of protests of Hurriyat (G), Hurriyat (M) and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) staged a protest outside Jamia Masjid to protest the attacks.

The protesters were demanding the shifting of Kashmiri prisoners in Tihar and Kathua jails to the Valley.

Pertinently, as many as 18 Kashmiri prisoners, including the son of Hizb chief Syed Salahuddin were thrashed by security staff inside Delhi’s Tihar jail on Nov 21, prompting chief minister, Mehbooba Mufti, to publicly express her concern.

“JRL activists at a protest sit in #JamaMasjid against violent attacks and assault on Kashmiri political prisoners in Tihar and Kathua Jails, demanding their immediate release or at least shifting them to the Valley,” Mirwaiz wrote on Twitter.
