Respite in Ladakh, Kashmir shivers
Srinagar: Even as there was a little respite from the intense cold in Ladakh region, mercury further dipped in Kashmir and Jammu regions with Srinagar recording a low of minus 1.9 degrees Celsius – two degrees below normal, Met office said Tuesday.
There was a little respite in intense cold gripping frontier region of ladakh. Kargil, which had experienced the coldest night of the winter so far yesterday, recorded a minimum temperature of minus 6.4 degrees Celsius. The town had registered a low of minus 10.4 degrees Celsius yesterday. Similarly, Leh recorded a low of minus 7.3 degrees Celsius, over a degree up from minus 8.5 degrees Celsius yesterday.
Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded the minimum temperature of minus 1.9 degrees Celsius – two degrees below normal, the Met office said.
The Mercury in hill resort of Pahalgam recorded a minimum of minus 3.9 degees Celsius. In other towns of south Kashmir, Qazigund recorded (minus 2.2) and Kokernag (minus 1.4).
In North Kashmir, famous ski-resort of Gulmarg, recorded a low of minus 3.4 degrees Celsius and Kupwara a low of minus 2.1 degrees Celsius.
Jammu, the winter capital of the state, recorded a minimum of 9.1 degrees Celsius – one degrees below normal.
The Meteorological Department has forecast mainly dry weather, but predicted very light rains or snow at isolated places in the valley tomorrow. (Kashmir Wire)
