Police recovers kidnapped girl from Punjab

Baramulla: Jammu and Kashmir  police Tuesday claimed to have arrested a native of Punjab and recovered a minor girl from his possession in Punjab. The man had kidnapped the minor from Batpora-Kunzar area of Baramulla district.

The arrest of the abductor and recovery of the kidnapped girl came in the wake of strenuous and joint efforts with Punjab  police, a police spokesman said here.

He said that on November 18, Javid Ahmad Shah, a resident of Batpora- Kunzer filed a complaint at police station Kuner that his  nice aged around 15 years was kidnapped by one Arjun Singh of Punjab.

He said a case (FIR 97/2017 under section 363 was registered in this regard and a  police team led by ASI Abdul Rashid was deputed to Punjab.

Giving details, the spokesman said that during the course of investigation it came to fore that the accused Arjun Singh, son of Nirmal Singh, a resident of  Khizarpore Mukeriyan Punjab with the help of Tasleema Begum, maternal aunt of the girl, abducted her from Batpora Kunzer.

Police said that Arjun Singh has been arrested while as the abettor Tasleema Begum who happens to be the maternal aunt of kidnapped girl was booked under section 109 RPC for abetment to offences under section 363/376 RPC, the spokesman said.

The spokesman said the kidnapped girl was handed over to her parents after conducting the medical examination and other legal formalities.
