‘The Edge’ organizes literary event in Baramula

Baramulla:  Finding ways to engage youth in book reading, an interactive session on ‘diminishing culture of book reading among youth’ was organised by ‘The Edge’ at district library Baramulla.

The Edge is a group of college students who regularly organise literary events in the town.

In this open discussion where youth from all walks of life participated, main reasons of diminishing culture of book reading and ways to tackle it were discussed.

Abdul Rashid , member of Baramulla  Writers Forum, Muzaffar Hussain, a scholar from Jamia Millia Islamia, Adnan Dar Correspondent of Varmul Post , Manzoor Ahmed Rather a PHD scholar from Nagpur University, Mushtaq Kirmani in-charge of District Library Baramulla were present on the occasion and expressed their point of view.

Muzaffar Hussain while speaking on the occasion said that book reading is important for individuals all over development.

“It is an important factor of our life. We have to discuss every problem so that our stress of life will reduce. But in our society there are very less people who are interested in book reading, which is indeed a disturbing trend. There is a need to educate our youth about book reading and such events are a good start-up to aware people,” he added. 

“In our time we were very much connected with institutes and books but now this generation is completely dragged from mainstream to social networking. Children don’t have time for their parents not to talk of book reading,” said Abdul Rashid, member of Baramulla Writer’s Forum.

He impressed upon getting intellect level of education besides academic education so that our youth can take society towards betterment.

While thanking the participants Samania Bhat member of The Edge said that we are continuously trying to discuss and solve the problems of society so that our youth which is our future tomorrow, get favorable place to work.
