Forces lay siege to Handwara village

Srinagar, Nov 25 : Government forces on Saturday evening cordoned off Kralgund area of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district and conducted searches as they suspected the presence of some militants.

Official sources said that the contingents of army and Special Operation Group (SOG) cordoned off Hanjin hamlet which is close to the forests and started searches.

A police official while confirming the cordon-and-search operation in the area said that some suspected militants are believed to be hiding inside the area.

“Some warning shots has been fired towards the suspected spot, however, there was no response from the other side”.

Locals said that the forces have sealed all the entry and exit points. The area continues to be under forces’ siege and there was no exchange of gunfire when this report was being filed.
