From social media to the street: One more family appeals militant son to return, this time at Press Colony
Srinagar: The family of an active militant from Malangpora village of Pulwama district today appealed their son to shun violence and return home.
The family of Adil Bilal appeared at the press colony in Lal Chowk and requested their son to quit militancy.
“We want him back. On November 7, he went to work and did not return. We called him many times on his phone but he did not respond. Following day his photo with a gun was all over the social media,” Bilal Ahmad, father of Adil Bilal said.
He, according to the family members, was working with a contractor at the Srinagar Airport.
“Besides this, he was also studying at a College in Pulwama,” a resident of Malangapora said.
Notably, a number of families have come forward mostly on social media to appeal their members to shun violence.
The family of Adil bilal is the first one who appeared before mainstream media to request their son to join them back at home.
Pertinently, J&K Director General of Police Shesh Paul Vaid said he would request other mothers also to appeal to their children to leave the path of violence.
General Officer Commanding of Srinagar-based 15 Corps, Lt Gen JS Sandhu, said, “We want the local terrorists to return to the mainstream and not to become proxies of Pakistan.”
The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has also set up a helpline ‘Madadgar’ to offer help to the militants if they want to return.
However, the Lashkar-e-Toiba said on Wednesday that no militant would be allowed to return home on the plea of his family. A statement from the militant outfit said that this was a ploy of Indian security forces.
Five families had appealed to their kin to return home, giving up guns, after the return of young footballer Majid Arshid Khan, who was allowed to return home on November 18 by the Lashkar-e-Toiba following an appeal by his mother.
The statement quoting Lashkar chief Mahmood Shah, said Indian armed forces were compelling families of militants of other mujahideen groups to do the same.
