Srinagar records coldest night
Srinagar: Intense cold tightened its noose over the state as night temperatures dipped further in the Valley and frontier region of Ladakh, forcing people to search for heavy woolens to ward off the bone chilling cold.
Leh continues to be the coldest place in the state as the minimum temperature there dipped to minus 11.4 degrees, while Srinagar, the summer capital, also recorded the coldest night of the season with a low of minus two degrees Celsius.
Kargil, also in Ladakh region, recorded a low of minus 6.2 degrees while twin hill resorts of Gulmarg in north Kashmir and Pahalgam in south Kashmir recorded minus five and minus 4.5 degrees Celsius, respectively, Met office said.
The minimum temperature in Jammu, winter capital of the state, was 8.5, Katra (9.4,), Bannihal (5.6,), Batote (4.7) and Bhaderwah (1.6).
Meanwhile, the weathermen has forecast partially cloudy sky and further dip in night temperatures in the state for a week ending Thursday.
