Shah being deprived of specific treatment: Geelani

Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani Tuesday expressed serious concern over the deteriorating condition of senior resistance leader Shabir Ahmad Shah in Tihar Jail, saying he is suffering from multiple ailments, however he is not being provided with specific treatment. Geelani said that incarcerated leader is being subjected to political vendetta.

Geelani as per the statement issued here said that those languishing in Tihar, including Altaf Ahmed Shah, Peer Saifullah, Ayaz Akbar, Raja Meraj-u-Din Kalwal, Shahid-ul-Islam, Farooq Ahmed Dar, Nayem Ahmad Khan, Zahoor Ahmed Watali, Kamran Yousuf, Shahid Yusuf and others are meted out with ill treatment and in absence of proper medical care are facing immense hardships and despite their falling health no medical treatment or care is provided to them.

Geelani in his appeal to Amnesty International, Asia Watch, and other international organisation for human rights and impressed to break their salience and take cognizance of the plight of these detainees and use influence for their immediate release.

Appealing all those kind-hearted people in India for their human approach, Geelani impressed to use their influence for immediate release of all detainees, pursuing right to self-determination and implicated on fabricated charges.

Condemning the continuous house arrest of THK General secretary Mohd Ashraf Sehrai, Gh Ahmad Gulzar (Spokesman) and Mohd Ashraf Laya Spokesman said, “state authorities are following policy of revenge against the resistance leaders, thus creating an atmosphere of anarchy and pushing people to wall. It is the deliberate policy of the government to keep resistance leadership away from people.”

Meanwhile, paying glorious tributes to youth Adil Chopan slain in Tral gunfight, Geelani said the sacrifices of the martyred youth are the most precious assets of the ongoing resistance struggle”.

Recalling the sacrifices of these martyrs, Geelani said that “these martyrs sacrificed their today for our tomorrow.”

Geelani while praying for his heavenly aboard and forbiddance to bear this loss, said that resistance leadership and whole nation shares the grief and extended their sympathies and condolences with grieved family.

Meanwhile on the direction of Geelani, a deputation comprising of Bashir Ahmad Qureshi, Omer Adil Dar visited the grieved family, led funeral prayers and while addressing mourners conveyed condolence message of Syed Ali Geelani.

Meanwhile, deeply concerned and grieved about the devastating fire incident at Islamabad (Anantanag) in which 13 residential houses and 18 shops where gutted, Geelani said that widespread destruction has left more than a dozen families shelter less in these cold days of winter.

He appealed the affluent class of the society to generously donate to help these victims so that their sufferings are minimized to some extent.
