Amid tears and sobs, slain Hizb militant laid to rest

Pulwama: Amid tears, sobs and restrictions imposed by the district administration, the slain Hizb militant who was killed in Tral encounter on Monday was laid to rest at his native village in South Kashmir’s Tral area of Pulwama district.

Aadil Ahmad Chopan of Lurow Jagir area of Tral was killed in brief encounter with security forces in Seer Jagir village of Tral sub district on Monday around 4 pm.

Witnesses said that all the main roads leading to the native village of slain militant were sealed by the security forces early Tuesday.

However, the mourners defied the restrictions and managed to reach the house of a slain militant from different areas of South Kashmir to participate in his funeral prayers. The mourners also expressed solidarity with the family.

The mourners chanted slogans in favour of Azadi while the women and children were seen wailing during the funeral procession.

Meanwhile, eyewitnesses said that a group of four militants also appeared during the funeral prayers and offered gun salute to the slain militant.

Later, Aadil was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in Lurow Jagir Tral amid pro freedom, pro-militant and anti-India slogans.

Meanwhile, a complete shutdown was observed in Tral area to mourn the death of the slain Hizb militant.

All business establishments and schools remained closed in the area whereas traffic too was off the roads.

Notably, Internet services in many parts of Pulwama district were suspended since Monday evening.
