Strict security measures in place for Milad celebrations

Srinagar: As Eid-Milad-Un-Nabi approaches, the authorities have decided to install more CCTV cameras and deploy additional security forces at Hazratbal shrine, which houses the Holy Relic of Prophet Muhammad.

According to sources, 110 workers of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) would be deployed for round the clock sanitation in and around the shrine beside 4 mobile toilets will be put in place at different locations for the celebrations on December 1.

The Power Development Department (PDD) would provide uninterrupted electricity besides keeping 60-70 KV generators available to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the shrine during the celebrations.

The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police, Central, said that two more companies of lady constables would be deployed at the shrine which will be in additional to already existing 70 constables.

He said besides CCTV cameras would be installed outside the shrine to prevent any law and order situation.
