Srinagar: Legislator from the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from Baramulla, Javaid Hussain Beg Monday took a dig at the separatist leaders by questioning on the ‘double standards’ the leaders adopt vis-a-vis their own children and the kids of a common man.

Talking to Kashmir Vision, Beg said that he made a prayer at a function that common Kashmiri should also get all the facilities the way (separatists) get for their children.

“Like I want my children to get better education, the same way I want every common Kashmiri to get quality education,” he said.

Beg stated that any religious or political movement in the world does not reach its logical conclusion unless the leaders of the movement keeps the same standard for the people and themselves.

“The standard you keep for yourself and your family, you have to keep it same for the common man,” he told ‘Kashmir Vision’ over the phone.

“If you want the common people to see poverty and hunger and keep fighting, then you also have to do the same. Then only the movement will reach to its logical conclusion,” he added.

Beg said that he wishes the common man’s child in Kashmir receive the same kind of education as that of the separatist leaders.

“The way Geelani’s children are studying aboard, I wish every common Kashmiri’s children study the same way.”

He said that all the relatives of the separatists are enjoying plum posts as they have provided them with the good education.

“I want the youth of Kashmir to walk into the footsteps of Salahuddin’s son who is a doctor,” Beg said. “Am I wrong?” he asked.

Pertinently, the mainstream parties in the Valley have been continuously attacking the separatist leaders over the issue of their children studying or working aboard.

Earlier, last year, a large number of parents took out a protest rally in Srinagar against the shutdown of schools after Geelani’s Hurriyat (G) issued a protest calendar.

Notably, Nayeem Geelani, son of Geelani, is a medical practitioner in Rawalpindi, Pakistan while as his other son, Zahoor is a crew member of a private airline in India. Geelani’s daughter is a teacher in Jeddah and her husband is an engineer who works in the Gulf.

Another senior separatist leader Mohammed Ashraf Sehrai’s son Abid Sehrai, is a computer engineer in Dubai.

Ghulam Nabi Fai, cousin of a separatist leader, and Rabia Farooq, sister of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, a doctor, live in London.

While Ghulam Muhammad Sumzi’s son Jugnu was a management student in Delhi, Rooma Maqbool, son of the head of Mass Movement Farida Behanjee, lives and works as a medical practitioner in South Africa.

Iqbal and Bilal, sons of the head of the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Liberation Party Hashim Qureshi, live in London. Sarwar Yaqub, son of a spokesman for the Geelani faction, Ayaz Akbar, is a management student in Pune.

Moreover, Asiya Andrabi’s elder son Mohammed Bin Qasim was pursuing Bachelors of Information Technology at the Islamic University of Malaysia and now is in Australia for further studies.
