Police officer’s aghast as body of slain colleague ‘dispatched in ambulance’

Srinagar: Police officer Muhammad Imran Tak, who lost life in a brief shootout in Zakura area of Srinagar city was laid to rest at his home town Udhampur in Jammu division.

Tak’s relatives including his minor daughter Alishba had arrived in Srinagar to take the body to Udhampur.  

His relatives and batch mates were aghast when his body was boarded in an ambulance on Friday night.

One of his photographs along with his little daughter that went viral with the following on the social media said,”While politicians and bureaucrats use Government funded air services for their official tours, Muhammad Imran Tak, the slain police officer who sacrificed his life in Zakura was boarded in an ambulance for his last journey towards his home town Udhampur.”

 “The ambulance left Srinagar late in the evening, traversing the bumpy serpentine highway running along the mountains and hills of Pir-Panchal. His corps along with his little daughter Alishba reached Udhampur in darkest hours of night, when state was fast asleep. His village and family were all awake, left in deep state of pain and shock.”

 “When so much money is consumed by State Government officials on air services, hiring choppers, don’t you think the he deserved to be air lifted for his last journey from Srinagar to his home? Even Army and Para-military personnel are air lifted as a mark of respect. He deserved a smooth journey and a decent burial after all he made supreme sacrifice of his life, joys, peace and strength that his family ever had.”

Meanwhile, a wreath laying ceremony was held in DPL Udhampur to honour the slain cop.

 Deputy Chief Ministers J&K Dr. Nirmal Kumar Singh led ministers, legislators, civil and police and security force officers and jawans in laying the floral wreaths on the body of the cop.

Cabinet Ministers Nayeem Akhter, C P Ganga, MLAs Sat Sharma, Harsh Dev Singh, Director General of Police Dr S.P.Vaid, IGP Jammu, Director SKPAU, IGP Personal, DIG Udhampur – Reasi Range, DC Udhampur, SSP Udhampur and a number of SsP & Commandants of armed/IR, DysP and Jawans were among the civil/police officers who presented wreaths and paid floral tribute to the cop.

 Later, the cop was laid to rest at his native place, Basantgarh. A huge gathering of people participated in the Namaz Janaza.
