Pattan: The residents of Pattan in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district Friday staged protest against the Power Development Department (PDD) for failing to repair their damaged transformer from the past 15 days.

The protesters blocked Srinagar- Muzaffarabad highway at Pattan to mark a protest against the failure of the PDD.

The residents of Tali Mohalla, Khanday Mohalla and Miyan Mohalla of Pattan assembled this morning on the main road and chanted slogans against the PDD for failing to repair their damaged transformer from the past 15 days.

Ghulam Qadir, one among the protesters said that the failure of the authorities has resulted in immense hardships to the people.

He said their locality reels under darkness since the last 15 days.

The blockade of the highway by the protesters resulted in heavy jam. However, authorities visited the spot and assured the protestors that their genuine grievances will be redressed on priority basis.

Tehsildar Pattan, Syed Faheem along with SHO Pattan M Saleem motivated the protesters and dispersed them off peacefully.
