Govt working on dev of religious places to tap pilgrim tourism: Minister

Jammu: Government is determined to promote historically significant religious places of worship to tap every aspect of pilgrim tourism. This was stated by Minister of State for Education and Tourism, Priya Sethi on the occasion of Mata Sukrala Devi Murti Sthapana Divas at Sukrala Mata Mandir, Purani Mandi here today. Every year, the day was celebrated with religious favor by devotees of the Goddess.

MLA East Rajesh Gupta was also present on the occasion.

 Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the government has initiated requisite measures for development of prominent religious places to improve facilities for the pilgrims.

“City of Temples Jammu has great potential in the field of tourism as edifices, monuments, religious and other scenic places, which reflect the culture and tradition”, the Minister maintained.

 It has set a great example of religious harmony and development of religious places for the promotion of pilgrim tourism in the region is the utmost priority of the government, she added.

Priya said that the idea of pilgrim tourism is to showcase to the world State’s rich and diverse spiritual and religious heritage.

The Minister also paid obeisance at Sukrala Mata Mandir and participated in the Yagna along with other devotees. Langer was also served to mark the day of idol installation.

Later, the Minister placed idols of Shiv Parivaar and Ram Parivaar at Shiv Temple, Canal Road.

Prominent among others who were present on the occasion were Baldev Singh Baloria, Anil Masoom,Ajay Sethi, Anju Dogra, Arun Sethi,Ramesh Gupta, Rajesh Dogra, Sharda Devi, Savita, Neeru Anand and members of Mata Sukrala Seva Dal.
