Employment fair under National Career Project innaugurated

Shopian: In its endeavor to provide employment to the unemployed youth of district Shopian, District Employment & Counselling Centre Shopian organized one day Employment Fair-Cum-Recruitment Drive- under National Career Project held at Shopian

The Programme was inaugurated by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Shopian Parveez Sajad Ganie.

Later on, he inspected various stalls set up by the various departments and financial institutions. All the line departments and sponsoring agencies bankers participated in the Fair. The main motive of the camp was to aware the youth about various sponsorship schemes for budding entrepreneurs.

Many Corporate Companies visited the fair for on spot registration and interviews of the candidates. The major companies that visited the fair were Surya wires, Multicare Services, Fidelis, IIFL, Quess Corporation, Vivo Healthcare etc.

More than 500 youth participated in the camp and as many as 40 students were registered till 4PM. Youth including Graduates, Postgraduates and three-year engineering diploma holders were eligible to participate in the said recruitment drive.

Speaking on the occasion, ADC, Shopian said that the main motive of the fair is to enhance employment opportunities for the youth of the district. He termed the employment fair as a platform for youth to get more and more exposure at the national level. However, he stressed for sustainability and said that our main focus should be on primary sectors and reversing the interest of youth in horticulture, agriculture and animal husbandry.

He also directed the youth to look for alternate sources for employment like the animal husbandry, fisheries, agriculture & other sectors for the livelihood. He said that for these purpose financial institutions and implementing agencies are ready to provide all the assistance for setting up their income generating units. He urged upon all the stakeholders and implementing agencies to provide information and counselling to youth of the district. He said that the educated youth should come forward and take benefits of the schemes and programmes.

Present on the occasion were Joint Director Employment, Assistant Director Employment, CPO Shopian, District Information Officer Shopian, AD Employment, district officers and other officers.
