Police detain Mirwaiz, Malik; foil protest march
Srinagar: Police on Wednesday arrested Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and JKLF chairman Yasin Malik from Abi Guzar area of Lal Chowk in Srinagar.
The duo had reached JKLF headquarters to address a press conference and lead a protest march against ‘government onslaught on the people and the plight of Kashmiri prisoners in jails’.
As soon as the leaders concluded the press conference, they tried to proceed towards Lal Chowk, however, a huge contingent of police stopped and arrested them.
They said that people raised pro-Pakistan and anti-India slogans on the occasion.
