Minister kick-starts construction work of EDI Jammu campus

Samba: Minister for Industries and Commerce, ChanderParkash Ganga today kick started the construction work of Jammu campus of Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) at Bari Brahmna Industrial Estate (BBIE).

Speaking on the occasion the Minister informed that the project inaugurated by Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti on 9 July 2017 will be completed at a cost of 89 crore in four years. The Jammu Campus of EDI, which will be spread over 65kanals of land, shall have house incubation centers, hostels, libraries and other interactive facilities for young entrepreneurs.

 Minister congratulated the Director JKEDI, MI Parray and other officers of the department for their efforts in encouraging the culture of entrepreneurship in the State. He said that the department is playing positive role in opening up new employment avenues by enhancing the skills of educated unemployed youth, thus empowering them to take up self-employment as entrepreneurs. The government has taken up many initiatives and schemes for making the youth job creators rather than job seekers, he added.

Ganga said that one entrepreneur can provide jobs to many others which will support the government in resolving the issue of unemployment.

 Minister informed that the EDI has taken up 4500 hundred cases for approval which will create job opportunities for about forty thousand unemployed youth.
