Two militants killed in brief shootout
Srinagar: Two militants were killed in a brief shootout at Rajwar in Handwara area of Kupwara district, a senior police official said.
SDPO Handwara, Shabir Khan said that two militants have been killed in the shootout after they fired upon joint party of police and army near Galganzer, Zacheldara in Rajwar area of Handwara Monday evening. The attack, they said, was repulsed by the alert troops.
“In the exchange of gunfire, two militants have been gunned down,” the SDPO said, adding that their identities are being ascertained.
Meanwhile, local police sources said that the duo belonged to LeT. They identified them as Toib hailing from Sopore and Ashiq from Palhallan area of Pattan.
