Troops continue search ops across Valley

Srinagar: Security forces on Monday launched Cordon and Search Operations (CASO) at multiple places in North and South Kashmir as part of efforts to flush out militants, police said.

The anti-militancy operations were carried in Hajin village of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district, Rangwar Lalpora area of Kupwara and in Hassanpora village of Bijbehara in Anantnag district of South Kashmir.

The search operation in Hajjin village of north Kashmir was launched early Monday by a joint team of Army and Kashmir police at Mir Mohalla Hajjin after inputs about the presence of militants in the area, police sources said.

Army and Police jointly carried out door to door searches in Mir Mohalla while all entry and exit points were sealed during the searches.

The search operation, however, ended without yielding any positive results for the government forces.

Meanwhile, government forces launched a cordon-and-search operation in the wee hours in Rangwar Lalpora area of Kupwara in north Kashmir.

The search operation was launched by 28 RR and police after specific inputs about the presence militants movement in the area.

SSP Kupwara Shamsheer Hussain confirmed that cordon and search operation has been launched to nab the militants in the area. However, the search operation ended peacefully.

Pertinently, in South Kashmir government forces launched a CASO in Hassanpora village of Bijbehara in Anantnag district.

Troops of Rashtriya Rifles, 90th battalion of Center Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Special Operational Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police jointly carried out searches. A heavy deployment of forces was made in the area.

The search operation ended and no contact was established with the militants, police sources added.
