Palhalan, Sopore shut to mourn killing of two local militants

SOPORE: A complete shutdown is being observed today in Palhalan and Bratkalan Sopore areas of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district to mourn the killing of two HM militants in a gunfight with Security forces yesterday.

Reports said that all shops and other business establishments are closed while traffic is off the roads.

Two Hizbul Mujhadeen militants were killed on Monday night in a gun fight with Security Forces in Zachaldara Handwara area of Kupwara district.

The slain militants were identified as Ashiq Ahmad Bhat of Palhalan Pattan and Toib Majeed Mir of Brath Kalan Sopore.

Reports said that thousands of people have assembled at Palhalan and Bratkalan to participate in the last rites of these slain militants.

Police had handed over the bodies of both militants to people on Monday night.
