Baramulla: The angry residents of Watergam area of Rafiabad in Baramulla district Friday locked the PDD’s receiving station as a mark of protest against erratic power supply to the villagers.

This is the second time that the residents locked this receiving station in protest. First time the receiving station was locked in 2016.

The gathering comprising mostly of elderly persons of the area staged a protest against the irksome power supply to their areas. Later the protesters marched towards the receiving station and locked its main entrance.

The protestors alleged that despite being a metered area, they are reeling under complete darkness.

“We had voluntarily allowed the department to install electricity meters in our areas and expected the uninterrupted supply of electricity. Instead, they supply electricity from this station to other areas leaving us to suffer,” alleged a protestor.

Meanwhile the officials at PDD say the uninterrupted supply is not possible this time to the consumers as they (PDD) are witnessing heavy usage of gadgets during this season resulting in load shedding. (Kashmir Wire)
