NABARD observes ‘National Entrepreneurship Day’

Jammu: National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) organised a workshop on the occasion of National Entrepreneurship Day at District Samba. Representatives from banks, officials from District Industries Centre, Lead Bank Office, RSETI and young prospective entrepreneurs were present in the workshop, a NABARD spokesman said in a statement.

Speaking on the occasion, Surinder Singh, District Development Manager, NABARD said that November 9 is being celebrated as National Entrepreneurship Day across the country.

“It aims at imparting further momentum to the thrust laid on entrepreneurship by the government. This year’s theme of National Entrepreneurship Day is `Catalyzing a cultural shift in youth entrepreneurship’.  We want to utilise this opportunity to encourage more youth to become entrepreneurs and job creators,” jhe said.

He impressed upon the young entrepreneurs to avail benefit of the various Credit Linked Subsidy Schemes to set up their own income generating units. 

Kamaljit Singh from District Industries Centre gave a detailed overview of the Pradhan Mantri Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP). He discussed that the PMEGP scheme envisages generation of employment opportunities through establishment of Micro Enterprises in rural and urban areas.

Sanjay Dhar, Director RSETI discussed about the financial assistance available under MUDRA and Stand Up India schemes.

Satish Sharma, LDM Samba requested the officials to provide all support and cooperation in implementation of these schemes. He also advised banks to provide timely and hassle free loans to prospective entrepreneurs.
