Revamp of Education Sector: Top officials from Edu Dept to meet MHRD team in New Delhi
Srinagar: In a significant development, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has convened a meeting with J&K’s school education department for implementation of the road map proposed by the union Ministry.
A team of top officials of J&K school education department on Tuesday left for New Delhi to attend their meeting with union MHRD and present their blueprint for implementation of the road map in the J&K state.
Interestingly, the roadmap was proposed by MHRD to J&K government in the month of September during the review meeting convened by secretary MHRD Anil Swarup, to review implementation of centrally sponsored schemes in the state.
“We have done an exercise for implementation of the road map in the state. A team of officials has gone to MHRD to present the work done by the Department here,” director school education Kashmir G N Itoo said.
He said the department will advocate for exposure visit of students and teachers as a part of exchange programmes which will pave way for personality development of teachers as well students in the government schools.
“We have a proposal to visit various states and adopt their models to revamp the education sector in the state,” Itoo said.
He said the J&K state in its presentation has proposed to adopt best practices of Himachal Pradesh model in J&K “to revamp the education scenario.”
The team of officials who have gone to New Delhi includes secretary school education Farooq Ahmad Shah, State project director RMSA and SSA besides other officials of the department.
“In our presentation we have highlighted the best practices already adopted by the department and are expected to bring a positive change in the upgradation of schools in terms of learning levels and infrastructure,” Itoo said.
MHRD in its roadmap for J&K state has asked the state government to revamp the process of recruitment of teachers, transfer system besides introducing new practices to elevate the standard of the government schools.
“We have suggested some inputs by which we can bring a positive change in the department. The inputs suggested by the department will be discussed with MHRD for their approval and will be implemented in government schools here,” Itoo said.
