JK participates in ‘Discover India Travel Expo’ in Chennai

CHENNAI: J&K Tourism participated in the 2-day ‘Discover India Travel Expo’ held in Chennai Trade Centre, in Nandambakkam to promote and project State’s tourism products including food, art and craft.

Deputy Director Tourism Kashmir, Peerzada Zahoor along with MD & CEO – Sivanesan Group of companies S. Sivanesan and Assistant Director of Tourism, Department of J&K Tourism Rupali Mahajan inaugurated the 2- day Travel Expo on November 4.

The expo saw the participation of State Tourism Boards, Tour Operators, Resorts, Online Tour Guides, Airlines, Cruise Liners and converged world of travel into a single, easily accessible platform for travel enthusiasts.

The Expo is one the leading travel shows in India to promote J&K’s tourism products and market the state among holidayers and travel agents.

Deputy Director Tourism, Peerzada Zahoor said the Expo received good response from tour operators and travel enthusiasts who enquired about the JK’s tourism products and holiday packages.

At the J&K stall in Expo, the department distributed publicity materials among the visitors and screened shot movies during the occasion which mesmerized the participants and excited them to visit Kashmir for sightseeing and experiencing the local culture.

During the Travel Expo, Food Festival was also organized which showcasing authentic cuisines of the participating states.

The participation in the Expo is a part of the department’s tourism promotional campaign to attract travellers back to Kashmir.

The department is also planning series of events in J&K including travel mart in Jammu, golf tournament in Srinagar, Snow Festival in Gulmarg and Pahalgam to promote state’s tourism products and pitch the Valley for all season destination.
