JK Interlocutor initiates outreach
Srinagar: As the Government of India’s appointed interlocutor, Dineshwar Sharma is all set to arrive in the Valley on Monday for his four-day visit to hold dialogue, mainstream opposition political parties, barring NC, Saturday received formal invitations for meeting him.
While most of the parties and leaders confirmed the development however, they said that they will discuss about the time as the time for the meetings has been left for the parties to decide.
J and K Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President G A Mir said that he received the invitation.
“We will discuss with the party leaders about the invitation and then decide the appropriate time for the meeting,” Mir said.
“We are ready to talk to him and know what agenda he has come up with,” he said, adding that Congress has written back to Sharma about having received the invitation.
PDF chairman Hakeem Yasin, CPI (M) State Secretary M Y Tarigami and DPF Chairman Ghulam Hassan Mir also confirmed having received the invitations.
“We will discuss with our party leaders and members about the time to meet him,” they said.
However, main opposition party National Conference (NC) is yet to receive the invitation.
“We have not received the invitation yet,” NC General Secretary, Ali Muhammad Sagar said.
Sagar said that once the party gets the invite, its leaders, President Dr Farooq Abdullah and working President Omar Abdullah will discuss and decide about the meeting.
Notably, Sharma is on four-day visit (Nov 6-9) beginning on Monday to the valley where he will meet delegations of political parties and other groups. The resistance leaders have though rejected to hold any dialogue with Sharma.
