Bhat urges Govt to complete decade old projects in Bandipora

Bandipora: Senior leader and Peoples Democratic Party General Secretary Nizam-ud-din Bhat appealed Government to complete 10yr old projects of the district. He was talking to media on the sidelines of Party convention here today at Party Office Bandipora.

He said, Bandipora carved out as a district in 2006 and after that some projects were sanctioned like Grid station, District Hospital, Bus/sumo Stand, Mini secretariat complex which are still pending due to negligence by the authorities.

The constituency of Bandipora has suffered and are in complete loss due to these pending projects. He said the College has also been constructed where the students are deprived of basic facilities are not provided conducive academic atmosphere.  “The land which was selected for the construction of these projects was not suitable and which resulted in loss of funds and we are still paying for that.,’’ he said and appealed Government to complete these 10yr old projects of the district including Grid station, District Hospital and Bus Stand.

Talking about the delay in construction of Bandipora-Srinagar road, he said 19 crores were embezzled by the then officials of PDC which were released for construction of this road and case is registered with vigilance organisation.

He alleged that innocent people were falsely involved in this case giving free escape to tainted officials. He said 184 persons were identified by authorities in the FIR but has failed to recover the amount till than thus resulting in delay in construction of road.

He thanked, Minster for Public works, Naeem Akhter for taking personal interests in constructing the road, Due to his personal efforts the work on road is going on and will be completed soon, he said.

He also said, Bandipora has vast Gujjar area, The ministry of Tribal Affairs should release the funds meant for Gujjar community as the committee was already framed by the department.

Bhat said Funds released for Wullar project has not been utilised properly. ‘‘Known for fresh water resources, Wullar is now loosing importance as the 120 Crore funds has not been invested due to which the inhabitants of Wullar are suffering,’’ he added.

“NHPC has started work on Nallah Madhumati under “Run River scheme” and has released funds for repairment of Nallah, he said. ‘‘People are alleging that these funds are not been utilised properly, Chief Engineer should visit the spot and submit  proper report to Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti  against the allegations levelled by locals whether they are genuine or not.’’

 He said it is their duty to show transparency and accountability. He appealed chief minister Mehbooba Mufti to personally monitor these projects and said he will be thankful to Chief Minister for early completion and inauguration of these projects.
