Srinagar: After various news organisations claimed that Zeenat ul Islam is the new chief of Lashkar-e-Toiba, the most wanted militant today claimed that Indian media is spreading lies about him.

“I want to clarify that I belong to Hizb ul-Mujahideen as Allah willingly will continue to do so,” he said in a video which is doing rounds on the internet.

He said that all the militant outfits are including Jaish, Lashkar-e-toiba, Harkat ul-Mujahideen, Al Badr are brothers.

“We have one law with one aim. The prayers of the people of Kashmir are with us and I thank my people who support us,” he says.

He says that Indian government is spreading fear among the people and Mujahideen by saying that we have run away and are hiding.

“Indian government is spreading fear among the people and Mujahideen by the saying that Mujahideen are at sea with the ‘Operation All Out and Cordon and Search operations’. It is a lie. We are living happily and with amplitude. We are on the right path and we will continue to do so until Indian forces leave the oppressed valley of Kashmir,” he added.

Pertinently, many Indian media channels have claimed that Zeenat-ul-Islam is the new commander of Lashkar-e-Toiba. Islam hails from Sugan Zanipura in Shopian in South Kashmir.

Islam is believed to be the main accused in the Shopian attack which took place on February 23, 2017 in which three soldiers and a woman were killed.

Zeenat-ul-Islam is among the five most wanted militants in the Valley. After the death of LeT commander Abu Ismail, security agencies too believed that Zeenat has taken over as its new commander.

The list of top militants includes Zakir Rashid Bhatt alias Musa, Reyaz AH Naikoo alias Zubair, Wasim Ahmad and Abu Hamas, a Pak militant who is believed to head Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in India.
