Samboora gunfight: Another Army soldier succumbs, toll rises to 3

Srinagar: An army soldier who was injured during ongoing gunfight at Samboora area of Pulwama district has succumbed to his injuries at a hospital, official sources said.

With his death the death toll in the ongoing encounter has risen to three including two army men and a local militant.

Earlier a soldier and a local militant were killed in the encounter.

As already reported, army’s 50 RR, SOG and CRPF acting on a tip off cordoned off Samboora area of Pampore this evening. As joint team of forces intensified the searches and fired some warning shots towards a suspected spot, the hiding militants believed to be two in number opened fire, triggering off an encounter.

In the ensuing gunfight, two army men and a militant were killed and his identity is being ascertained. Sources said the firing has has stopped in the area but search operation is still going on.
