KFGDA demands roll back of GST on packaging material

Sopore: Kashmir Fruit Growers and Dealers Association (KFGDA) Kashmir Wednesday chaired a meeting at Fruit Mandi Sopore in north Kashmir Baramulla district.

The association demanded immediate roll back of Goods and Services Tax (GST) on packaging material.

The meeting was chaired President Fruit Mandi Sopore, Bashir Ahmad Bashir.

The meeting was attended by Executive body of Fruit Association Kashmir, President Fruit Association Baramula, Fruit Association Shopian, Fruit Association Srinagar.

Basheer said that the imposition of GST on card board, waste paper, packing material, pesticides, fungicides and insecticides are not affordable for the growers.

“The imposition of GST on these materials will enhance the rates of fruits,” he said, adding that they have apprehension of huge losses due to the imposition of GST.

The growers urged state government to take up the matter with Government of India so that the growers and dealers could heave a sigh of relief.
