Four films selected for ‘Vatavaran’ film festival
Srinagar: Four films made by Kashmiri filmmakers were selected by the organizers of CMS, VATAVARAN film festival to be showcased in the ninth edition of the festival in New Delhi.
“This year we received 10 Films from Jammu and Kashmir and out of which 4 films are nominated marking the transition of Kashmir’s thought process of being environmentally inclined. The Films portrays how Kashmir is becoming prone to effects of climate change,” CMS Vatavaran said.
The four films selected are Global Warning – Kashmir Chapter and Saving the Saviour by Jalal Ud Din Baba, September Himalayan Floods (Un) Avoidable Deluge by Dr Shahid Rasool & Inam-Ul-Rehman and Whispers of Warming by Anoop Khajuria, which portrays how Kashmir is becoming prone to effects of climate change.
9th CMS VATAVARAN – Asia’s largest International Film Festival and Forum on environment and wildlife, is scheduled from November 2-6, 2017 at Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti, Rajghat, New Delhi.
“The festival and forum will showcase the 113 best of environment and wildlife films from across the world. The theme this year is ‘Conservation 4 Water’, which will delve on issues of the inter-connectedness of climate change and water through a range of workshops and seminars,” it added.
The Face of Change “Bilal Ahmad Dar”- protagonist of the film Saving the Saviour by Jalal Ud Din Baba, Swachata Ambassador of Srinagar Municipal Committee and Face of Wular Lake, who was praised by PM Narendra Modi himself will be also coming to attend the festival, a handout issued by Vatavaran said .
