Pro-India parties responsible for chaos and confusion: Geelani
Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference on Sunday held a meeting of its executive body (Majlis-e-Shora) at Hyderpora which was presided over by Chairman of the amalgam Syed Ali Geelani. The meeting discussed the prevailing situation including growing incidents of braid-chopping in Valley.
The meeting, according to a statement issued to news agency GNS, was attended by the heads or the representatives of Muslim Conference, Tehreek-e-Insaf, Muslim Democratic League, Tehreek-e-Muzahamat, Islamic Political Party, Mass Movement, Kashmir Freedom Front, Tehreek-e-Khawateen, People’s Movement, Anjuman Shar-e-Shiyan, Muslim League, DPM and People’s League.
The participants reviewed and discussed “the prevailing grim situation in state including incessant braid chopping incidents, incompetence of authorities, varying and confusing statements with regards to Kashmir issue”. The executive council members expressed their satisfaction over the judicious guidance of Syed Ali Geelani.
“It was observed that Indian authorities instead of implementing a realistic and political approach for the resolution of issue are following their obsessive dogma,” the statement said.
Blaming police for their “hooliganism”, the participants said that police during raids are arresting pro-freedom people on “fictitious” charges. While ridiculing the statement of Army Chief General Bipin Rawat on braid chopping, the meeting termed it a direct assault on the modesty and dignity of women. Rawat had said that braid chopping incidents in the Valley are not a big challenge at this moment.
“If they (authorities) feel that these criminals need not to be nabbed or checked, then why are they claiming to protect and safeguard the dignity and honour of people,” the meeting said.
Commenting over the “controversial” statements of Indian officials and authorities regarding negotiations and Kashmir issue, the executive council members maintained that “varying statements” are being floated. They said while some are favouring a comprehensive debate, few quarters come with their own theory saying there is no need for dialogue.
The executive council members while paying salute to prisoners said: “We are indebted to their sacrifices as it is because of their valued contribution and sacrifices, we get an inspiration and freedom movement is rejuvenated.”
Syed Ali Geelani in his presidential address said the “repressive and coercive” measures won’t dampen our sentiments nor will break our resolve. “We and our mission being on righteous tack, has full sustenance and blessings of Almighty Allah,” he said. “History stands witness to the fact that right-based movements never fail, however tyrant forces vanish and stand nowhere,” he said.
The Hurriyat (G) chairman said that National Conference and likewise parties are responsible for the present “confusion and chaos”. “Unfortunately some people instead of supporting right cause are allying with these wrongdoers,” Geelani said.
“Our struggle for achieving the right to self-determination is based on right and sacred ideology,” said Geelani, adding, “Millions have offered their sacred sacrifices while nourishing this mission with their blood,” he said.
Directing all the constituents of amalgam, Geelani stressed for unity and increasing public relations, saying we should encourage people for their commitment.
“Guarantee lies while following teachings of Islam, Almighty Allah suffice us,” Geelani said.
The resistance leader said “pro-Indian” parties are luring our youth and we should educate them. “Islam, freedom and unity in our folds can lead us to our destiny and if the entire nation follows these goals, we will definitely achieve our destination very soon,” Geelani said.
