Budgam: Despite the Higher Education department notifying a fee structure, authorities in the Degree College Magam in central Kashmir’s Budgam district are arbitrarily charging extra examination cum admission fee from students.

The students of B.G.(2nd Year) 3rd Semester of Magam Degree College accused the college authorities of overcharging the admission cum examination fee from the hapless students.

The students said the college authorities were fleecing them by charging Rs 6060 against Rs 5449, set as admission cum examination fee by the Higher education  authorities.

The college has also been charging all students Rs 60 for the admission form, violating the university’s rules.

”The college has announced details of the fee on its website, however they are not complying with the set fee structures,” a student said.

Several students alleged that they found huge differences  between the fee structure when compared to other Colleges.

When the students  who had already paid their dues, approached the Principal of the College, he assured them to refund the extra charged fee.

Despite repeated attempts, Principal Degree College Magam could not be contacted for his comments.
